Description
The A.A. Arms AP-9 (also known as the Kimel AP-9) is a US-made, semi-automatic blowback-action pistol chambered in 9x19mm Parabellum (9mm Luger). It was manufactured from 1988 to around 1994 and bears a strong resemblance to the Intratec TEC-9 pistol, both designed by Alfredo K. Keller. Key Features and Specifications Type: Semi-automatic pistol (it has no automatic fire function). Action: Blowback operation. Caliber: 9mm Luger (9x19mm Parabellum). Weight: Approximately 3 lbs. 7 oz. (1.56 kg). Frame: Features a rectangular-shaped frame and tubular receiver, often with a black polymer lower receiver (grip and frame are typically an integral part) and a parkerized or stainless steel upper receiver. Barrel Length: The standard model has a 5-inch (127 mm) barrel. Other variants existed with different barrel lengths (e.g., Mini AP-9 with a 3-inch barrel, Target AP-9 with an 11 or 12-inch barrel). Sights: Fixed iron sights, typically a rear notch and a hooded front post sight. Feed System: Original magazines included capacities of 5, 10, 20, and 32 rounds. After the 1994 Federal Assault Weapons Ban, only 10-round magazines were primarily available for new sales. Accessories: Original accessories included a hard plastic case, a forward handle, a flash suppressor, recoil compensator, and barrel extensions.
