Description
The "American Gun Company" (sometimes stamped American Gun Co. New York) is not an actual manufacturer, but rather a famous "hardware store trade name" used from the late 1890s until roughly 1930. These vintage side-by-side (SxS) double-barrel shotguns were manufactured by the Crescent Fire Arms Company of Norwich, Connecticut. They were built on behalf of the H&D Folsom Arms Company of New York, a massive sporting goods distributor that wholesaled them to retail chains like Sears, Roebuck & Co. and independent local hardware stores.
