The Patented Arisaka zero retention clamp (ZRC) is engineered to effectively minimize zero shift for lasers and iron sights mounted on handguards. Currently not compatible with the Rattler, the MCX Virtus and Spear LT handguards lack secure attachment to the upper receiver, allowing significant flex that can alter laser or front sight zero when slight pressure is applied. This flex can cause shifts of up to 5 mils or more while the rifle is shouldered, with the zero not reliably returning to its original position once pressure is released. The Arisaka ZRC utilizes exterior clamps that thread into a specialized U-bracket. This U-bracket engages the extended upper receiver beneath the handguard, firmly securing the handguard to the upper receiver along two axes. This design greatly reduces or eliminates zero shift while ensuring the U-bracket does not contact the barrel or gas system, thus preserving the free-floated barrel configuration. ZRC clamps are meticulously contoured to minimize interference with the user's grip on the handguard, maintaining optimal handling and comfort.
