The alloy, while as soft as brass, offers exceptional tensile strength to prevent bending and snapping under the pressure of a tight patch. Traditional brass patch jags contain over 60% copper, which can result in a misleading blue copper fouling color on patches when using effective copper-removing cleaners, even if no copper is present in the bore.
