Brownells Barrel Alignment Gauge .45 Cal for 1911 Government

Brownells Barrel Alignment Gauge Features The Brownells Barrel Alignment Gauge is designed to give gunsmiths and dealers a fast repeatable way to verify that a 1911 Government barrel is properly fitted and aligned within the frame. The rod slides smoothly down the length of the bore and its precisely centered tip settles into the firing pin hole when the barrel is correctly seated giving an immediate pass or fail indication. Applying a small amount of layout fluid to the breech face before the check reveals exact contact points helping identify high spots or misalignment that could affect function or accuracy. This makes the gauge equally useful during a custom barrel fitting job and as a quick used-gun inspection tool at the counter. Machined from centerless ground steel the gauge holds its precision dimensions through repeated use in a working shop environment. At 8-1/4 inches long it is sized specifically for the .45 caliber 1911 Government platform and companion gauges are available for .38 and .40 caliber applications as part of the same three gauge set. Gunsmiths building custom 1911s dealers evaluating trade-in pistols and serious hobbyists fitting their own barrels will all find this tool speeds up the inspection process. A small focused tool like this pays for itself the first time it catches a poorly fitted barrel before it becomes a bigger problem.
