Description
Built on the highly regarded Sako L579 action, this custom rifle by noted gunsmith Thomas M. Burgess is chambered in the versatile .284 Winchester. Based on the serial number 49584, the Sako action was likely manufactured in the mid-1960s (approximately 1965-1967). The rifle features a beautiful walnut stock with fine checkering, a slim sporting profile, and quality custom workmanship that reflects the attention to detail for which Burgess rifles are known. Condition appears very good overall, with strong metal finish and attractive wood showing only light handling wear consistent with careful use. The rifle retains its custom character while benefiting from the smooth operation and reputation for accuracy associated with the Sako L579 platform. Combining a desirable classic action, sought-after .284 Winchester chambering, and craftsmanship from Thomas M. Burgess, this rifle represents an appealing option for both collectors and hunters who appreciate vintage custom sporting arms.
