The New Model 3 Target represents one of Smith & Wesson's classic late-19th-century designs and is closely associated with the development and legacy of the .44 Russian cartridge — a subject Taffin wrote about extensively. Believed to be the very revolver pictured and discussed on pages 59 and 60 of John Taffin's Book of the .44 Caliber. In the accompanying text, Taffin recounts the story of how his wife purchased this revolver for him at a gun show, adding a personal and well-documented layer of provenance to an already historic sixgun.
