The Swiss Model 1911 Infantry Rifle was manufactured by Eidgenössische Waffenfabrik (W+F Bern). This historically significant rifle serves as a pinnacle evolutionary stepping stone in the Schmidt-Rubin lineage. It was specifically engineered to chamber the potent, modernized 7.5x55mm GP11 cartridge. The Model 1911 represents a total mechanical restructuring of earlier Swiss service rifles. To safely handle the high pressures of the newly introduced GP11 spitzer bullet, the locking lugs were relocated from the rear of the long bolt sleeve to the center. This drastically stiffened the action, increased lockup strength, and vastly improved accuracy. The Bakelite Bolt Knob is recognizable by its distinctive twin operational handles, original models utilize a specialized early plastic/bakelite formula for traction.
