Colt's PT.F.A. Mfg~1903 Pocket Hammer~.38 Smokeless Rimless (.38 ACP)

Based on the Colt 1902 Sporting, this pistol saw use primarily as a smaller, pocket carry for Colt's line-up pistol until production ceased in 1927. Chambered in .38 Smokeless Rimless (also known as .38 Automatic or .38 ACP), it was less powerful than 9mm and comparable in performance to modern .380 ACP. Featuring a twin link barrel, 7+1 Capacity, and no external safety to speak of, it was never intended for the more powerful .38 Super Auto that it gave rise to. The linked barrel system, grip angle, and later military-style spur hammer would eventually lend itself to the creation of the 1911 under John Browning's adaptations.
