Description
The remarkable Colt Buntline Special is a long-barreled variant of the Colt Single Action Army revolver. The unusual name was inspired by western dime novel writer Ned Buntline, who supposedly gifted them to legendary lawmen such as Wyatt Earp. (No actual evidence supports this, but the legend lives on.) This piece dates from between1980-81, and is a 3rd generation Single-Action Army variant with the distinctive 12" barrel. It is chambered for the classic .45 Colt (.45 Long Colt) cartridge. It shows very little wear of any kind. The bore and chambers are clean and bright. The frame is color case hardened. The barrel and cylinder are finished in the famous Colt deep blue. The stock grip panels are made of black plastic. The sights are comprised of a grooved frame with a fixed front Patridge blade sight. The revolver does not feature a transfer bar safety and has a checkered hammer. The cylinder holds six cartridges and has fluted surfaces. Buntlines are prized by collectors for their unusually long barrel, excellent workmanship, and historical tie-ins. This gun is sold without a case or box.
