Today's steel is far superior to the materials available when the 1911 was first produced, allowing for significant improvements in manufacturing. We utilize better alloys, controlled furnaces, vacuum heat treating, advanced tooling and finite element analysis to produce high-quality parts. One common issue with extractors is the loss of tension over time due to constant contact with the relief groove on the casing, which causes the hook to dull. If you find your extractor regularly loses tension or requires frequent adjustment, it's time for a replacement. We've solved this problem by reducing the distance from the bolt face to the extractor hook. Unlike most hooks cut at right angles, ours is machined at an acute angle to increase surface area and better grip the casing. We also added radii to both sides to enhance strength, addressing a common weakness in other designs. The hook is machined with a special cutter that provides a clean radius in the inside corner, which is where most extractors fail. Vacuum heat treatment enhances our extractor's spring properties, allowing it to maintain tension for over 70,000 rounds. This part cannot be shipped internationally.
