Enfield No 5 MK 1 Rifle, .303 British, 20.5 inch Barrel

The Lee-Enfield No. 5 Mk 1 chambered in .303 British with a 20.5-inch barrel is one of the most famous carbines in military history. Universally known as the "Jungle Carbine," it was developed late in World War II (1944) specifically for airborne forces and jungle warfare in the Pacific Theater, where the long, heavy No. 4 rifle proved too cumbersome. Metal was milled away from the receiver body and lightning cuts were made to the bolt handle. The barrel was cut down to 20.5 inches, requiring a distinctive cone-shaped flash hider to manage the massive muzzle blast caused by unburnt powder escaping the short barrel.
