Faxon Firearms FX7 Prefit Barrel .308 Win 22" M24 Contour 5/8x24 Nitride

Faxon Firearms FX7 Prefit Barrel Features The FX7 Prefit Barrel starts as 416-R stainless steel the alloy match barrel makers reach for because it machines cleanly and holds a uniform bore over a long service life. Faxon cuts it with 5R button rifling and then hones and laps the bore a finishing step that smooths the tooling marks a bullet would otherwise engrave against which means less fouling easier cleaning and more consistent velocity shot to shot. Every barrel is magnetic particle inspected to catch flaws that never show on the outside of a blank and the muzzle is finished with a recessed target crown so the rifling releases the bullet evenly rather than tipping it as gas escapes. For a shooter chasing small groups those are the details that separate a match barrel from a production tube. The M24 profile puts steel where it counts and at 5.15 lbs this barrel carries the mass that soaks up heat and resists the walking point of impact that thin contours suffer through a long string. A salt bath nitride finish hardens the surface and adds real corrosion resistance inside and out which matters on a hunting rifle that gets rained on and a range rifle that gets cleaned often. The 1.0625 x 16 TPI tenon is the reason it is called a prefit since it threads onto a Faxon Firearms FX7 action and similar receivers without a trip to a custom shop while the 5/8x24 muzzle threads accept the standard brakes and suppressor mounts built for .308 Win. For the builder who would rather turn a wrench than wait on a gunsmith this barrel is a straightforward path to a match-grade rifle and it is available now for sale at ARMSAGORA.
