Description
The Faxon Match Series Threaded Fluted barrel is a replacement barrel for the Smith & Wesson M&P Shield in 9mm Luger. It is machined in-house from stress-relieved 416-R stainless steel and finished in black nitride, a coating the manufacturer describes as increasing lubricity, barrel life, and resistance to surface wear.
The barrel measures 3.7 inches in length and has a 1/2x28 thread pitch for muzzle devices. Its chamber is cut to 9mm SAAMI specifications. The barrel is conventionally rifled, which the manufacturer states allows a wider range of ammunition to be used, including cast lead bullets. The muzzle has an 11-degree target crown.
The barrels are described as dropping into factory-spec slides without gunsmithing, with tolerances the manufacturer says are tighter than OEM for a consistent lockup.
