At ignition, it is imperative for the case neck to expand, allowing the release of the bullet. If one side of the neck is thicker than another, the bullet will release prematurely, causing a misalignment of bullet-to-bore. When this occurs, accuracy is dramatically impacted. Mandrels, which are the steel points, are ground 0.002 to 0.025 inches smaller than the diameter of the bullet, providing excellent performance.
