Forster Products Headspace Gage GO Steel 7.62 X 39

Forster Products Headspace Gage GO Features The Forster Headspace Gage GO is machined to SAAMI specifications for the 7.62 X 39 cartridge giving the gunsmith a precise minimum headspace reference. Headspace is the distance between the breech face and the base of the cartridge when the action is closed and getting it wrong can allow unsupported brass to rupture under pressure. Closing the bolt on a GO gage confirms the chamber will accept any ammunition loaded within SAAMI tolerances which is the first check a gunsmith performs when a new barrel is chambered or an existing rifle is inspected. This makes the gage an essential reference point before a rifle is ever paired with a NOGO or Field gage for a full headspace assessment. Crafted from hardened steel for long service life the gage resists wear from repeated insertion and handling across many fittings. Its compact two inch length and half inch diameter make it easy to store in a gunsmithing kit alongside gages for other calibers. Because it is built to a fixed SAAMI dimension rather than an approximation the same gage can be trusted for consistent results fitting after fitting. Gunsmiths and serious reloaders rely on a tool like this to catch headspace problems before they become a safety issue at the range.
