Description
The compact sectional rods (CSR) were initially designed as short and compact rods for dislodging stuck cases in the chamber when the mortaring method for the AR15/M16 is ineffective. While USGI cleaning rods are nearly ideal for this task, their length poses a challenge. Our goal was to create shorter rods that are more easily portable in packs. Although CSR can function as a cleaning rod with the included brass jag, this is not its primary purpose. The CSR kit comprises precision-machined 17-4 stainless steel rods, with a maximum length of 4.8 inches, featuring a bead-blasted matte finish. The kit also includes a machined brass jag and a 17-4 stainless steel plug/ram. CSR is inspired by the traditional M16 cleaning rods, but we have eliminated the folding T-handle to minimize bulk when stored. The CSR components include a handle (4.55 inches), standard length rods (4.8 inches), short rods (3.95 inches), a jag for cleaning patches and a serrated plug for clearing stuck cases. Although designed to fit within the storage compartments of Vltor and SOPMOD stocks (10.5 - 12.5 and 14.5 - 16 kits only; the 18 - 20 kit is too bulky), we recommend storing batteries and small spare parts, including the CSR, in a pack rather than using the AR as a storage platform. CSR can be ordered with a handmade, custom pouch and can also be stored in a pistol magazine pouch. If the CSR is carried in the stock, a 1 inches elastic nylon band is provided to secure the rods and prevent rattling within the stock's storage compartment. The jag is crafted from brass, while the stainless steel plug is made from 17-4 SS, the same material as the rods. When using the CSR to dislodge a stuck casing, the stainless plug should be threaded onto the end of the rod. Configuration for 18 inches - 20 inches includes one handle, three standard length rods, two short rods, one RAM plug and one jag
