Hornady ELD-X .338 Cal / .338 230 Grain 100-Count ELDE

Hornady ELD-X Features The Hornady ELD-X bullet is built around a Heat Shield tip that resists the effects of aerodynamic heating and retains its shape to hold a ballistic coefficient of .616 from the muzzle all the way downrange. A streamlined secant ogive combined with an optimum boattail design and a highly concentric AMP jacket delivers superior aerodynamic efficiency for flatter more predictable trajectories. On high velocity impacts within roughly 400 yards the bullet expands continuously through its penetration path and a thick jacket shank paired with a high InterLock ring keeps the jacket and core bonded for 50 to 60 percent weight retention. This progressive expansion behavior gives hunters confidence at typical hunting ranges on medium to large game. At distances beyond 400 yards where impact velocity has dropped off the Heat Shield tip drives backward into the bullet to initiate expansion rather than failing to mushroom. The bullet then forms a large mushroom while retaining 85 to 90 percent of its weight delivering deep penetration and a large wound cavity even at reduced velocity. At 230 grains with a sectional density of .288 this .338 diameter bullet is built for reloaders assembling their own big game hunting ammunition. Sold 100-count the Hornady ELD-X is available for sale at ARMSAGORA for handloaders who want dependable expansion at any practical range.
