The Hornady Critical Defense Lite 9mm Luger load is a self-defense handgun cartridge loaded with a 100-grain FTX jacketed hollow point bullet. The FTX bullet uses a Flex Tip design intended to deliver controlled expansion, a flat trajectory, and a large, deep wound cavity across a wide range of velocities.

The load is built around clean-burning, stable propellants intended to reduce recoil and maintain consistent performance in all temperatures, with minimal muzzle flash to help preserve night vision. Each round is cannelured and crimped to resist bullet setback, and the case carries a nickel plating for corrosion resistance.
