Hungarian M44 chambered in 7.62x54r. After WWII the Soviet Union shared much of its weapons technology with its satellite countries, including the Mosin rifles and carbines. M44s were produced in the 1950s by Hungary and other countries. They have minor differences but follow the same pattern as the post war Soviet M44s. This rifle was produced in 1953 and is so stamped on the receiver ring. It was made in Budapest by the FEG (Fmáru Fegyver s Gpgyár) plant. These are fairly rare since only a small number were produced. They are known for their high quality. It has a slightly frosty bore with strong rifling. No box.
