Description
The Model 37 Ithaca pump has a history starting with John Browning, and ending in Ithaca Gun Co. The design was offered to Winchester, but Browning finally made a deal with Remington who produced it for a number of years, then abandoned it to produce their Model 31. Ithaca waited out the Patent, to avoid royalty payments, and began producing them in 1937. They are well-regarded as some of the best pump shotguns ever made. They feature bottom ejection, for ambidextrous use, and in this case better quality wood, checkering, and a full beavertail fore end. To a degree, Ithaca pioneered the use of fiberoptic sights, and this one has a fiberoptic bead and the top of the receiver is matted to give the effect of a flat rib. Nice, lightweight, shotgun that will be a great all-around companion.
