Anyone who has traveled much in the backcountry has run into the difficulty of crossing streams without getting your boot soaked with water. The Kenetrek Water Snake is a niffty little product we developed from necessity (and to much idle time in a remote hunting camp). They work by providing a compression seal between either your waterproof rainpants or gaiters and the top of your boots. They do not create a totally waterproof seal for long term wading, but they do dramtically reduce the amount of water seepage allowing for quick crossing of streams without the need to remove your boots.
