A torsion bar within the mechanism helps prevent the knife from opening accidentally when carrying. A textured 410 stainless steel handle provides a solid non-slip hold. A hardened 8Cr13MoV stainless steel blade holds an edge, without being excessively difficult to sharpen. The blade and handle of the Thrust Assisted Opening Folding Knife feature a black oxide blackwash finish to prevent reflection at inconvenient moments.
