The design of the casing is also inherently a low heat process which reduces the possibility of hard nicks and nicks in the casing. Additionally the mold is CNC machined for perfect roundness and control of size. The casing and handles are made from steel. Although manufactured from aluminum the Lee Black Powder Minie MOULD - 54 Cal is designed to produce a highly detailed polished roundness. A "notched" or "rolled" radius is usually the desired size.
