Description
One of the most popular semi-automatic .22 rifles in firearms history, the Marlin Model 60 "Glenfield Carbine" sold over 11 million units in its entire 60-year production from 1960-2020. In fact, the Model 60 predates the classic Ruger 10/22 by four years, making it the "10/22 before the 10/22." The Model 60 is easily recognizable by its long tubular magazine that reaches nearly to the end of the micro-groove-rifled 22" barrel. The magazine holds up to 16 .22 Long Rifle rounds in its magazine. This particular unit was made in 1989 and features a gloss-finished non-checkered walnut stock with plastic serrated buttplate with the Marlin logo. The barrel is not JM-stamped. The sights consist of an elevator-adjustable rear sight paired with a fixed Patridge-style front blade sight with serrated ramp; the receiver also has a 3/8" rimfire dovetail scope rail and has a grooved top surface to reduce glare when using the open sights. This Model 60 is in fair condition. The rifle barrel looks to be in good condition and the firearm operates smoothly and is well-broken-in. The stock and receiver finishes do have cosmetic damage, with black lacquer wearing off many edges throughout and small spots of the gloss finish of the wood missing or exhibiting signs of wear and usage. The barrel does have some light spots of surface rust as well, but does not appear to be very deep and only cosmetic. This rifle does not include a box or case.
