Description
For your consideration, an M1 Carbine manufactured by National Postal Meter. The receiver dates to 1943, and the July '43 dated Buffalo Arms barrel is populated with a Niedner Rifle Corp. front sight, pressed on gas block marked only with a flaming bomb stamp, and an AMCO type Ⅲ barrel band/bayonet lug assembly. Markings on the type Ⅲ stock consist of a very faint (P) proof on the heel of the wrist, a crisp "P" on the front of the wrist, AAM for Augusta Arsenal, a boxed [G.H.D.] with ordnance wheel for Inspector, Lt. Col. Guy H. Drewry, M-U indicating Marlin as the manufacturer, and "W" on the recoil plate for Winchester. The 2-rivet upper handguard is marked Q-RMC for Rock-Ola. Other identified components include and an "IO" marked Inland dished bolt, a type Ⅲ "UN-Q" marked Quality Hardware slide, type Ⅲ "J.A.O." Inland rear sight, and an "ST" marked Standard Products trigger housing populated with an "MWA" magazine release, "WM" trigger, and "W" sear. Additionally, the trigger housing is marked "LGKST" indicating use by the Landes Gendarmerie Kommando Steiermark, the Gendarmerie of the Austrian State of Steiermark.
