Currently serving with US and NATO troops, the PVS-14 Gen III Night Vision Monocular is considered to be the all around best multi-functional night vision monocular available. The PVS-14 is a dual purpose night vision device; it can be used as a monocular (hand held or helmet mounted) or it can be weapon mounted and used in combination with NVG compatible reflex sights (weapon mount sold separately). The adjustable gain of the PVS-14 ensures that the operator is able to fine tune the device to optimized performance as ambient light conditions change. In the helmet mounted configuration the PVS-14 allows the operator to keep the night adapted vision retained in one eye while utilizing the illuminated eyepiece of the device to enhance their situational awareness. The battery housing of the PVS-14 now includes a feature that powers the unit down when the device is stowed in the upright position on the helmet. This PVS-14 unit features a white phosphor image intensifier tube with a min. 1760 FOM makes the unit more affordable. The tube provides a 16.2 min. signal to noise ratio and resolution of 57lp/mm min.
