This custom sporter built by D. Olson and B. Ferguson on a Model G.33/40 Mauser action, serial number 1533D, is chambered in the versatile .280 Remington cartridge. The rifle remains in very good overall condition, featuring an attractively figured walnut stock with fine checkering, a rubber recoil pad, and blued metal finish. Included is a mounted riflescope, providing a ready-to-hunt package. Light handling marks are present consistent with responsible use, while the stock and metalwork continue to display excellent craftsmanship and strong visual appeal. The Gewehr 33/40 (G.33/40) was originally a lightweight Mauser-pattern military rifle produced for German forces during World War II, with manufacture occurring primarily from 1940 to 1942. Many surplus G.33/40 actions were later prized by custom gunsmiths for their strength, light weight, and smooth operation, making them ideal foundations for high-quality sporting rifles. This example represents that tradition, blending a historic Mauser action with custom craftsmanship and the proven performance of the .280 Remington cartridge.
