J.D. Moritz & Sohn Drilling J.D. Moritz & Sohn was a German firearms manufacturer based in Leipzig, known for producing high‑quality side‑by‑side and combination "drilling" guns rifles with integrated shotgun barrels often in premium materials and with elaborate engraving. These drillings were typically made between the early 20th century and the late 1930s, often for the German market. They combined a rifle barrel with one or two shotgun barrels (often 16 ga), and were valued for their craftsmanship, engraving, and versatility.
