Description
This No. 5 Mk. I Jungle Carbine used by the Malasyian police chambered in .303 British is a desirable military surplus rifle with serial number A1155. The rifle remains in good overall surplus condition, showing expected handling marks on the wood stock and light finish wear consistent with service use, while retaining an attractive appearance. Included with the rifle are a bayonet and sling, adding both collector appeal and historical authenticity to the package. The No. 5 Mk. I "Jungle Carbine" was developed during World War II as a lighter, handier variant of the Lee-Enfield rifle for use in jungle and airborne operations. Most examples were manufactured at the Royal Ordnance Factory Fazakerley between 1944 and 1947, and many later saw service with Commonwealth nations and police forces, including those in Malaya during the Malayan Emergency.
