Description
The Spanish Oviedo Modelo 1916 Short Rifle chambered in .308 Winchester is a classic military bolt-action surplus rifle featuring a 22-inch barrel. Originally manufactured at the Fábrica de Armas Oviedo in Spain starting in 1916, these small-ring Mauser-system weapons were originally built in 7x57mm Mauser. During the Cold War era (primarily the 1950s and 1960s), a massive volume of these rifles was converted to fire 7.62x51mm NATO / .308 Winchester to equip the Spanish Guardia Civil (Civil Guard) and secondary units.
