The Peabody rifle was a pioneering breech-loading rifle design developed by Henry Oliver Peabody of Boston, Massachusetts, and first patented in 1862 Wikipedia. It featured a hinged breechblock that tilted downward to allow cartridge loading, a design that became one of the first successful trapdoor-style breechloaders (Copilot). This Peabody is in nice condition, especially for its age, and will make a welcome addition to any collection.
