This J-arm mount provides an adjustable field of view via mil-spec AN/PVS-14. With an industry-leading total weight of only 2.22 ounces, it weighs less than a single mil-spec J-arm.
It is also fully compatible with the most popular infrared monoculars, supported by a wide range of accessory arms and adapters. Adapters for mounting thermal imaging cameras are not included!
The articulating design allows the individual monoculars to rotate upward and outward independently of each other, allowing the user to rotate one or both monoculars out of the way to clear their auxiliary view, to observe natural light conditions, or to use a hand-held or weapon-mounted thermal imaging camera, or any other application that requires that one or both monoculars be rotated out of the way and not fully stowed.
In the retracted state, the articulating eyepieces allow the user to rotate the center of gravity of the unit closer to the helmet, thereby reducing the retracted profile and redistributing the weight of the system to reduce the burden on the neck.
This expanded lateral field of view is useful in activities such as static observation, allowing the user to scan a wider area more quickly and with more economical movement, while returning to a more traditional 40-degree field of view once something of interest is found.
