Remington ~ Nylon 76 Trail Rider ~ .22 Long rifle

This is an example of the rather scarce Remington Nylon 76, chambered in .22 long rifle, and featuring Remington's distinctive Mohawk Brown nylon stock. Made for a very few years, 1962 to 1965, only about 26.900 were shipped, making it one of the more unusual and collectible members of their famous Nylon rifle family. The Nylon 76 has a short, smooth lever action and had the innovative lightweight nylon construction, molded woodgrain look, and distinctive styling that made them so immediately recognizable. This one has a barrel code of BM, which translates to January of 1965 manufacture, and as such has no serial number. Barrel is 19.5 inches, the buttstock loaded tube magazine holds 14 rounds, the sights are an adjustable rear and fixed blade front, the buttplate is the original style with contrasting trim, the grip cap has the Nylon 76 logo. It's in good condition, showing moderate to considerable cosmetic wear consistent with age and usage. The stock and forearm show numerous scratches, scuffs, and handling marks. The molded checkering remains well-defined and both decorative diamond inlays are intact. The metal surfaces show finish wear, discoloration, scattered oxidation, and scratches, particularly o the receiver cover. The sights and lever action are intact. The bore is clean and bright with good rifling and the action works smoothly. The tubular magazine assembly, including the inner magazine tube and follower, is there and in good shape. With such low production numbers, the Nylon 76 is much less common, and a lot more collectible, than the more familiar semi-automatic Nylon 66. No box or case.
