The Rockola company was famous for producing juke boxes, but with wartime in the 40s, its expertise with precision machining, as well as furniture manufacture, was in high demand. They produced a lot of discrete parts for other manufacturers' assembly into M1 Carbines. They produced some 220,000 complete rifles as well, less than 4% of the total 6.1 million produced by the US. What a feat, 6 million rifles, from a concept in 1940, to full production in 1943.
