Each package contains two military surplus magazines that may be either Ridgeback or Flatback variations, with mold numbers that will vary. All magazines are rated Good or better under NRA surplus standards and will display the honest wear expected from military service and storage. Some examples may feature steel-reinforced feed lips, while others may not, and this characteristic cannot be guaranteed.  Developed in the mid-1960s at Izhevsk, the so-called Russian “Bakelite” magazines—officially designated AG-4S—were made for the AKM and later AK-74 rifles. Despite the nickname, they are not true Bakelite but a glass-fiber-reinforced phenol-formaldehyde composite, molded in two halves and epoxied together with steel reinforcements at key stress points. Their distinctive marbled orange-brown or reddish hue came naturally from the manufacturing process. These magazines were designed to solve corrosion and weight issues found in steel versions, offering a lighter, rust-proof, and surprisingly durable alternative despite their reputation for brittleness.
