The 1948 Russian Mosin-Nagant M44 (Carbine) chambered in 7.62x54R with a 20.25" barrel is a rugged, historically significant military surplus firearm. The M44 (Model 1944) is famous for its hard-hitting performance and its permanently attached, side-folding cruciform spike bayonet. A 1948 manufacture date makes it a highly desirable late-production piece, as Russian M44 production at the Izhevsk arsenal ceased shortly after in 1948 when the Soviet military transitioned to the SKS and AK platforms.
