Description
This is a classic Savage Model 720 in 16 gauge. The 720 was based on John Browning's long-recoil-operated design and is recognizable by its humpback receiver profile. It was produced under license by Savage between 1930 and 1949, and it's an interesting relative of the Browning Auto-5 and Remington Model 11. It has a blued steel receiver and traditional checkered walnut stock and forearm. This example has no serial number, consistent with its manufacture before the Gun Control Act of 1968 made them mandatory. This is a rugged, historically interesting shotgun from an era when American gun makers produced substantial all-steel autoloaders based on one of John Browning's most iconic designs. The 16-gauge chambering makes it especially appealing to those who appreciate vintage American sporting shotguns. The action is smooth and the bore is clean and bright. There is no box or case.
