For sale is a Smith & Wesson M&P 9 M2.0 semi-automatic pistol chambered in 9mm. This firearm is in very good condition, showing minimal signs of use, and has been properly maintained and stored. The Smith & Wesson M&P (Military & Police) line has a distinct history that spans from traditional service sidearms to modern polymer pistols. Here is a look at the evolution and key milestones of the platform: • The Historical Roots (1899): The "Military & Police" designation originally debuted with the Smith & Wesson .38 Hand Ejector Model of 1899. This revolver became a standard service weapon for law enforcement and military personnel globally, establishing the reputation for the name. • The Modern Polymer Era (2005): Smith & Wesson revived the M&P moniker for a completely new line of polymer-framed, striker-fired semi-automatic pistols. Designed from the ground up for duty use, it featured ergonomics like interchangeable palmswell grips to compete directly in the modern duty market. • The Shield Introduction (2012): Recognizing a growing demand for slim, easily concealable firearms, the company introduced the M&P Shield. This single-stack variant maintained the operational controls and design language of the full-sized duty pistols but in a subcompact profile optimized for everyday carry. • The M2.0 Evolution (2017): Based on real-world feedback from law enforcement and civilian users, the platform was upgraded to the M2.0 generation. This iteration introduced an extended stainless-steel chassis embedded within the polymer frame to reduce flex, a lighter and crisper trigger pull with a tactile reset, and a much more aggressive grip texture for enhanced control. Today, the M&P series continues to expand across various frame sizes and calibers, remaining a prominent choice for both duty use and personal defense.
