Description
The Smith & Wesson Model 640 is a small-frame, concealed-hammer double-action revolver in the J-frame line, built as a variation of the Model 40 Centennial. It is intended as a compact carry or defensive handgun that fires full-power 357 Magnum rounds from a small package.
The revolver has a 2.12-inch barrel, a 6.56-inch overall length, and a five-round cylinder. The stainless steel frame, barrel and cylinder carry a satin finish, with a blade front sight, a fixed rear sight and a black synthetic finger-grooved grip. It weighs 1.38 pounds and includes an internal lock.
The 640 is chambered for 357 Magnum and also accepts 38 Special, including +P loads. It is a right-hand model.
