Description
The Spyderco Retract is a folding knife designed by custom knifemaker and bladesmith Ed Schempp. Its defining feature is a dramatically curved, full-flat-ground recurve blade with a negative angle, which the description says enhances cutting leverage, especially on draw cuts. The blade is somewhat reminiscent of a Nepalese kukri.
The blade is made from 9Cr18MoV stainless steel with a satin finish and measures 3.4 inches. The handle uses full skeletonized stainless steel liners with peel-ply-textured G-10 scales and a partial G-10 backspacer. The liners form the basis of the LinerLock mechanism, which is machined nearly flush to help prevent unintentional closure.
The knife includes a lined lanyard hole and a deep-pocket wire clip that can be reversed for left- or right-side tip-up carry. The handle is black.
