Stern Defense Mod4 Complete Upper Features The Stern Defense Mod4 Complete Upper is chambered in 9mm and centers on a 16.1 inch barrel with a 1:10 inch twist rate a specification tuned for stabilizing typical 9mm pistol caliber bullet weights through a carbine length barrel. The barrel is made from chrome moly steel and finished in black Melonite a nitride style treatment that resists wear corrosion and heat buildup far better than a bare steel finish. A threaded muzzle at .5-36 accepts the included SCB 9 compensator which helps tame muzzle rise and keep the sight picture on target during rapid strings of fire. The upper receiver itself is forged from 7075-T6 aluminum and anodized giving the assembly a hard durable exterior that stands up to the rigors of range use and duty carry alike.
