Description
For sale is a Steyr Model 1912/61 bolt-action rifle in good condition. Chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO, this military surplus rifle is an honest, character-rich example displaying lots of history alongside completely crisp, visible markings. Overview The Steyr Model 1912/61 is a fascinating window into global military history. Originally manufactured by Waffenfabrik Steyr in Austria for a pre-WWI Chilean military contract, these incredibly well-made, old-world Mauser rifles served Chile through multiple eras. In 1961, the Chilean arsenal modernized their remaining stocks to align with their standard-issue FAL rifles by re-chambering them to 7.62 NATO, shortening the barrels, and modifying the stocks. This particular rifle presents a fantastic battle-worn look without sacrificing structural integrity. Key Features • Condition: Good, honest wear example. The metal displays a smooth, natural gunmetal-gray and mottled patina. • Markings: All historic stamps remain perfectly visible. The receiver is clearly stamped with the traditional Chilean coat-of-arms alongside the prominent "MODELO 1912-61" and "NATO" designations. • Stock: Original walnut military stock showing standard dings, handling marks, and genuine signs of service that emphasize its combat lineage. • Caliber: Re-barreled/chambered by the military to fire modern, readily available 7.62x51mm NATO / .308 Winchester. • Mechanics: Smooth bolt operation and reliable, robust Mauser 98-style action.
