Description
Carbon fiber is highly suitable for the demanding tasks associated with cleaning rods, offering a combination of the advantageous features of stainless steel and coated cleaning rods, along with its own unique benefits. While stainless steel rods do not accumulate potentially harmful abrasive particles, they can scratch or wear barrels if used improperly. Coated rods partially address this issue by preventing the stainless steel shaft from damaging the barrel's rifling; however, the coating can collect small abrasive particles, effectively turning the rod into fine grit sandpaper within the bore. Carbon fiber rods provide the optimal solution - they do not scratch the bore like stainless steel and do not embed particles like coated rods. Additionally, carbon fiber rods can be bent to a significant degree and will return to their original straightness. During operation Iraqi Freedom, U.S. Military armorers requested Tipton to supply cleaning rods capable of maintaining service rifles under challenging conditions. This request was logical, as carbon fiber is an ideal material for cleaning rods. These rods are termed deluxe due to their ergonomically designed handle, which rotates on two sets of ball bearings, allowing the rod to smoothly follow the rifling during both pushing and pulling, even under pressure. The shank-through construction permits the application of reasonable hammer blows to the end of the rod to push a tight patch through a bore. These rods are available in four diameters and six lengths to accommodate most rifles, pistols and shotguns. Rifle and handgun rods are threaded for 8-32 accessories, except for .17 Cal and .20 Cal rods, which are threaded 5-40. Shotgun rods are threaded 5/16-27. Incorporates a hang hole for convenient storage and is designed to withstand moderate hammer impacts to dislodge a persistent obstruction Dual precision-engineered bearings ensure seamless operation under high-pressure, enabling the shaft to precisely align and follow the rifling without binding Ergonomically designed for comfort, the handle remains securely in your hand while the shaft rotates on bearings to align with the rifling Utilizes shank-through construction to optimize performance in confined, low-illumination environments The carbon fiber shaft is designed to prevent the embedding of particles that could potentially damage the bore of your rifle
