Valmet 412S O/U combination gun in 12 Gauge/5.6x52R (22 Savage Hi Power). The left side barrel chamber area is marked "VALMET / MADE IN FINLAND". The left side of the bottom barrel's chamber is marked with the serial number "249307", "12/76 GA - IM" / "5.56x52B". The right side of the top barrel's chamber is marked "PROOF TESTED". The receiver has decorative markings. The bottom of the receiver is marked "VALMET 412 S". The barrels are 23.5" with a serrated ventilated rib. The front sight is a fixed blade mounted to the rib. The rear sight is a folding leaf in front of the scope rail. The two-piece stock set has a detachable checkered forend, checkered semi-pistol grip, and fluted Monte Carlos comb. The 5.6x52R cartridge is more common in Europe though it originated in America where it is known as the .22 Savage High Power. In the U.S. only Savage chambered a commercial rifle for it, but in Europe it was known as the 5.6x52R and was a favorite in various drillings and combination guns. It fires a 70-grain soft-point bullet at 2800fps.
