Wards Westernfield 81-SB508A Rifle, .22 Short, Long, Long Rifle, 24″ Barrel

The Wards Western Field Model 81-SB508A is a classic American, vintage slide-action (pump) rimfire rifle sold as a "store brand" firearm through the Montgomery Ward department store catalog. The "SB" prefix in the model number designates that it was manufactured on contract by Savage Arms, serving as the exact mechanical equivalent to the Savage Model 29 (specifically the 29-A or 29-B variant). Built primarily from the late 1930s through the 1950s, this hammerless, tube-fed rifle was produced as a hard-working utility gun with plain, uncheckered wood to lower retail costs relative to Savage's flagship branded line.
