Weatherby ~ Mark V Custom ~ .375 H&ampH Magnum

This is a custom Weatherby Mark V chambered in .375 H&H Magnum built on an early-production Japanese Mark V action dating to the early 1970's. This rifle has been extensively customized by a previous owner and is not presented as an original factory Weatherby. It is fitted with a GR Douglas barrel, clearly marked as G.R. Douglas / .375 H&H with the XX premium-grade marking and fitted with a muzzle brake. The stock is walnut in a traditional sporting-rifle configuration with cheekpiece, contrasting fore-end cap and spacer, ventilated recoil pad, sling studs, and decorative stock hardware. The stock is significantly different from the Weatherby Monte Carlo stock of the period and appears to be part of the custom build. The original Mark V receiver has the correct markings and it features the Mark V magnum action. The bolt handle number-matches the serial number of the receiver. It is equipped with a Redfield 1-3/4-5x scope, which is an appropriate low-power hunting optic in a heavy duty mounting. Overall, this is an interesting vintage custom hunting rifle combining the strong Mark V action, the classic .375 Holland & Holland Magnum cartridge with a quality Douglas XX barrel. It appears to have been purpose-built as a serious big-game rifle. The identity of the gunsmith or custom shop who did the build is not known to us.
