Winchester Model 70 Featherweight Features The Winchester Model 70 Featherweight is built around controlled round feed with a claw extractor and controlled ejection the same system that has defined the Model 70 s reputation for dependability across generations. Chambered in 6.8 Western the rifle carries a free-floating 24 matte stainless barrel with a target crown and a 1:8 twist rate matched to the cartridge s heavier bullets. The stainless steel receiver is drilled and tapped for scope mounts giving hunters a straightforward path to mounting glass suited for the longer ranges 6.8 Western is designed to reach. A 3+1 capacity fed from a hinged floorplate magazine keeps the action simple and reliable in the field. The satin finish AA French Maple stock is hand checkered in the classic Featherweight pattern and finished with a Schnabel fore-end for a traditional elegant profile. A jeweled bolt body and knurled bolt handle add refined touches that Model 70 enthusiasts have come to expect from this storied rifle line. The Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad absorbs a significant share of the recoil generated by the 6.8 Western cartridge keeping the rifle comfortable to shoot even on longer range sessions.
