Winchester - 12 - 12 Gauge

GAUGE: 12 GA. CHOKE: CUTTS COMP. CHAMBER: 2 3/4". LOP: 12 7/8". MANUFACTURED: 1947. Manufactured during the peak of post-World War II commercial firearms' production, this 1947 Winchester Model 12 pump-action shotgun serves as a classic example of mid-century American target-shooting innovation. Originally leaving the factory as a standard cylinder-bore configuration, the firearm was modified shortly after purchase by a period gunsmith who cut back the muzzle to securely mount a prominent, slotted Cutts Compensator. This vintage muzzle systemhighly prized by 1940s skeet and trap competitorsuses vented ports to direct powder gases outward and reduce recoil, effectively transforming a standard field gun into a specialized, soft-shooting competition piece with interchangeable choke capability. Retaining its matching serial number 973938 on both the receiver and barrel assembly, the shotgun balances the renowned mechanical smoothness of "The Perfect Repeater" with a distinct, user-driven upgrade that reflects the exact competitive shooting culture of the post-war era. CONDITION: Very Good. The bore is shiny and smooth. The forend has been replaced at some point with an aftermarket piece. The mag tube shows bluing wear from normally operation as expected.
