Rare Pre-War 1940 Winchester Model 70 Custom .300 Win Mag 26" Barrel Vintage El Paso Weaver K4 & Pachmayr Lo-Swing Flip Mount (Serial No. 13310) Overview For your consideration is an extraordinary piece of American sporting history: a genuine Pre-War Type I Winchester Model 70 receiver, manufactured in 1940 (Serial No. 13310). Highly coveted by collectors as the premier era of the "Rifleman's Rifle," this silky-smooth pre-war action has been expertly customized later in its life with a 26-inch barrel chambered in the devastatingly powerful .300 Winchester Magnum. This unique configuration marries the unrivaled hand-fitted craftsmanship of Winchester's golden pre-war era with the flat-shooting, long-range knockdown power of a modern magnum. It is a true custom hunting tool built with real history, ready for the field or to show off at the range. Vintage El Paso Glass & Pachmayr Flip Mount Complementing this heavy-hitting classic is a phenomenal, period-correct vintage optics package: • The Scope: A classic Weaver K4 (Series 60-C) fixed 4x rifle scope, proudly Made in El Paso, Texas(Patent No. 2,949,810). Renowned for its clear lenses and rugged steel tube construction, it perfectly matches the timeless, mid-century build style of this rifle. Note for accuracy: There is some minor cosmetic damage to the plastic bezel on the front of the scope; however, this is strictly superficial and does not affect the clear glass or the structural integrity of the steel tube. • The Mount: An original, highly functional Pachmayr Lo-Swing Flip-Over Scope Mount, proudly Made in Los Angeles, CA (Pat. No. 2,639,507). This ingenious vintage system allows the shooter to instantly flip the scope out of the way to use the rifle's iron sights in heavy brush or close quarters, swinging back over and locking tight to hold a zero perfectly. Mechanical Perfection & Honest Character This rifle is a true survivor that wears its field history with pride. The original factory bluing on the receiver and barrel still shines beautifully across the metalwork, showing minor, honest pitting and light surface rust consistent with a trusted companion in the field. The factory wood stock displays typical field dings and handling marks, highlighted by the original, iconic high-gloss finish. Mechanically, the rifle functions flawlessly; the legendary "pre-lawyer" adjustable trigger breaks incredibly clean and crisp with zero creep. The stock is perfectly completed by a classic Winchester red Pachmayr rubber recoil butt pad.
